Funded! Tamika awarded a Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment and a Wildlife Disease Association Re
Congratulations to Tamika Lunn for being awarded two grants this June - a Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment from the Ecological Society of Australia, and a Research Award from the Wildlife Disease Association Australasian Section!

Tamika is investigating the interactions between reproductive hormones, immune function, and disease susceptibility in gestating flying-foxes (Pteropus spp.), bat species recently linked to a number of paramyxoviruses, including Hendra virus in South Eastern Australia. She plans to use the funds to analyse hormone and immune expression in her flying fox samples, and apply modelling approaches to disentangle mechanisms driving viral shedding in these bats.
